Responsibility for Artificial Intelligence Lies with Humans

On August 30–31, at the discussion festival “Būtent!” in Vilnius, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures brought together experts for a panel discussion “Challenges and Risks of Using Artificial Intelligence in Academic Activities.”

The discussion highlighted that while artificial intelligence opens up many opportunities for research and study processes, it also poses significant risks to academic integrity and public trust in science. According to experts, technology cannot replace human responsibility – only ethical and transparent use ensures that artificial intelligence becomes a tool for assistance rather than a source of threat.
