What personal data are we collecting and why are we doing this?

The Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania is processing personal data of the website’s visitor in accordance with the following:

  • Regulation (Eu) 2016/679 of the European parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation)
  • Law on Legal Protection of Personal Data of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Law on Electronic Communications of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Order of the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania “On approval of the documents governing rights of data subjects”;
  • Description of management procedure of information safety incidents in the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Other legal acts governing personal data processing.

The concept “personal data” used in this privacy policy shall mean any information about a natural person, website’s visitor, who can be identified directly or indirectly according to the identification, contact and other data.

The website is managed, administered and the personal data of its visitors is managed and processed by the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – Office).

When collecting and using the personal data, the Office observes the following principles:

  • personal data shall be processed lawfully, fairly and transparently;
  • personal data shall be collected for determined, clearly defined and lawful purposes and shall not be processed in the mode incompatible to the aforementioned purposes;
  • personal data shall be adequate, appropriate and only needed for the purpose of their processing;
  • personal data shall be stored in such a way that a person could be identified only for the period that is necessary for the purpose, for which the data are processed;
  • personal data shall be processed in such a way that the applied technical and organizational means would safeguard appropriate safety of personal data, including their protection from incidental loss, destruction or damage.
