Practical Solutions for Gender Equality in Science Discussed at the International “Women in Science (WinS)” Conference

The international “Women in Science (WinS)” conference, held on the occasion of UNESCO’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science, highlighted that gender equality in science is increasingly being advanced through concrete, practical solutions rather than declarations alone.

The conference focused on mentoring as an effective tool for strengthening women’s careers in science, transparent and data-driven evaluation processes, the role of institutions in creating safe and respectful academic environments, and the potential of artificial intelligence to reduce bias in research assessment.

Dr. Reda Cimmperman, Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures, emphasized during the conference that gender equality is one of the key indicators of whether a research system is truly ethical and trustworthy.

According to Dr. Cimmperman, the insights and good practices discussed at the conference will be valuable for strengthening fair and inclusive academic practices both nationally and internationally.
