AI Application in Higher Education

At the roundtable discussion held at SMK Higher Education Institution, members of the higher education community, experts, and students discussed how artificial intelligence is transforming the study process, the role of the lecturer, and which ethical principles must be followed when applying these technologies.

The event was attended by the Academic Ethics and Procedures Ombudsperson, Dr. Reda Cimmperman, who emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence into studies must be based on the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and responsibility, and that technologies should enhance learning rather than replace critical thinking, creativity, and academic responsibility.

The discussion highlighted that although artificial intelligence can become a valuable assistant in the study process, the human role remains decisive – including lecturers’ judgments, pedagogical competence, and a meaningful, live relationship with students.

The event was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme project “Empowering Higher Education through Artificial Intelligence Integration”, which aims to support higher education institutions in responsibly and purposefully integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, research, and administration.
