Discussing the specifics of complaints handling with ethics committees

On 3 May, the Ombudsperson, Dr Loreta Tauginienė met with members of ethics committees of research and higher education institutions to discuss how to ensure the principle of confidentiality in the handling of complaints about allegations of academic ethics and what material should be made available to the person complained. Representatives of the ethics committees shared their experience of the measures they take to deal with complaints. Participants also asked how to use publicizing of unethical behaviour as an effective tool for influence in the academic environment, the differences between text matches and plagiarism, etc.

More than 30 representatives of ethics committees attended the annual meeting.
