We have presented the means of research integrity promotion in Lithuania

On 9 December 2021, Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures, Dr. Loreta Tauginienė took part in the event Scientific Integrity organised by the German Commission for UNESCO. The event’s participants from various world countries shared initiatives promoting scientific integrity, raised issues for discussions what scientific integrity is, why and how it is important for academic community and society, how the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, could contribute to promotion of scientific integrity.

The ombudswoman shared what measures are used in Lithuania to promote research integrity in the academic environment. The event’s attendees were interested whether the supervision of research ethics and integrity in business sector in Lithuania is carried out, whether the Lithuanian research and higher education institutions are implementing the Guidelines for Ethical Review, what challenges in their implementation are encountered, whether the codes of academic ethics of the Lithuanian research and higher education institutions list violations related to ethical approval, etc.
