The project “Bridging Integrity in Higher Education, Business and Society” has been launched

In September 2020, Erasmus+ funded project “Bridging Integrity in Higher Education, Business and Society“ (Bridge) was launched, and the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures is one of the partner organisations in it. The main goal of this project is to create a bridge of intersectoral integrity by deepening the understanding of integrity in higher education, business, and society and by providing relevant skills needed to act in accordance with the values of academic ethics.

The project will first analyse the results of previous studies and select examples of good practice. The second phase of the project will aim to link academic and scientific integrity. In the third phase, guidelines for integrity in research and business will be developed. The fourth stage aims to “build a bridge” between academic integrity and society. Graduate and PhD students are the main target group of the project.

The Office should make the most significant contribution namely to the ethical challenges of citizen science. Citizen science is participatory in nature, as the researcher enables citizens to engage in research together not as participants of a research but as co-researchers. Citizen science is an open innovation access that seeks the fellowship of academia and society.

The Bridge project will run until the 31st of August 2023. The grant for the project is 374 247 euros, the share of the funding allocated to the Office is 12 percent. The project is coordinated by Uppsala University (Sweden).
