For the second year in a row, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures participated in the science festival “Spaceship Earth”. The festival, first held in 2004, has already become the largest science communication event in Lithuania. This year, its program included as many as 350 events.

The event of the Office “Measure the Garment of Conscience” was intended for gymnasium (high school) students. The Senior Specialist (Senior Analyst) dr. Eglė Ozolinčiūtė prepared an interactive lecture on the principles of academic integrity for the participants of the science festival, introduced the main violations of academic ethics and their consequences to them. Students were given practical tasks related to the identification of dishonest situations in the studying process and searching for solutions of the problem. The Senior Specialist (Analyst) Kristina Senkuvienė gave a presentation on citation and emphasized its importance in order to avoid violations of academic ethics.

The event “Measure the Garment of Conscience” took place in three gymnasiums: Šiauliai Didždvaris gymnasium, Babtai gymnasium and Vilnius Žvėrynas gymnasium. More than a hundred gymnasium students attended the event in three days.

At Vilnius Žvėrynas gymnasium, teachers also expressed their interest in academic ethics, so the Ombudswoman dr. Loreta Tauginienė gave a lecture to them.
