The Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania becomes a National and Regional Hub of the COALESCE project

The Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania successfully submitted an expression of interest and was invited to participate in the COALESCE (“Coordinated Opportunities for Advanced Leadership and Engagement in Science Communication in Europe”) project as a National and Regional Hub. Following this achievement, the Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding and became officially part of the COALESCE National and Regional Hubs (COALESCE N&R Hubs) network, currently composed of 23 organizations.

As a COALESCE N&R Hub, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania will contribute to: developing tools and resources and adapting them for local science communication participants; translating COALESCE materials into Lithuanian; building and expanding local communities of practice and knowledge; publicizing and disseminating resources and services to enhance the impact of science communication.

New COALESCE N&R Hubs will be established throughout the project, with annual calls for expressions of interest in selected countries. COALESCE N&R Hubs are organizations across Europe, including COALESCE consortium partners, known for their expertise in science communication in their respective countries or regions. These hubs form the core of COALESCE and are the primary physical venues for project activities.

COALESCE is a European Union-funded project under the HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ERA-01 program, aimed at establishing the European Competence Centre for Science Communication. This Centre, together with its Academy, will become the main platform for participants from various fields to access training and resources dedicated to science communication.

Through COALESCE, the European Competence Centre for Science Communication, seeks to consolidate knowledge, build capacity, and promote the recognition of science communication by connecting communities to cultivate trust, support evidence-informed decision-making, and foster social justice. The vision of the Competence Centre is to become the leading platform where science communication actors can find all the necessary information and tools for their daily practice.

Participation in this project is a significant step in strengthening science communication in Lithuania and contributing to the dissemination of high-quality information across Europe.
