Research Integrity, Power Dynamics, and Safe Institutional Culture: ENRIO 2025 Congress on Research Integrity Practice

The ENRIO Congress in September 2025 in Ljubljana will continue the recently established biennial series of events dedicated to research integrity (RI) practice and the development of responsible research in Europe. The Congress is organized by the European Network of Research Integrity Offices (ENRIO) and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).

This Congress is aimed at all research integrity and ethics experts, RI officers and practitioners, members of ethics and research committees, representatives of research funding organizations, and all those involved in the development and implementation of good RI practices and policies.

The main theme of the event is power dynamics in research and institutional responsibility in fostering an open, safe, and inclusive research environment, which is the foundation of everyday RI practices. The Congress will also address fairness, equity, and diversity as essential components of RI, as outlined in the 2022 Cape Town Statement. The event will feature challenges and solutions that help foster prevention and increase awareness of RI issues.

Key topics include:

  • Tensions in RI training and education
  • Forms of discrimination and how to overcome them
  • Abuse of authority and ways to prevent it
  • Conflicts of interest and commitment
  • Challenges in international and collaborative research
  • Fair research assessment and reward systems
  • Public and private research funding pressures

Additional topics include the responsible use of artificial intelligence in research and responsible open science. In addition to the main presentations and discussions, the program will include roundtable discussions for sharing ideas and practices. More information about the ENRIO 2025 Congress will be available in the future.
