Ombudswoman Loreta Tauginienė met with the academic community of the Centre for Innovative Medicine on 15 September, to discuss the role of a researcher (scientist) in conducting research and publishing their results. The ombudswoman stressed in her talk that the duty to comply with research ethics and other standards of academic ethics arises not only from the regulations in the field of academic ethics established in Lithuania but also from other international norms related to academic ethics. The ombudswoman drew attention to the European Charter for Researchers, the European Conduct of Conduct for Research Integrity, and the good (universally recognised) research practice. She briefly reviewed the Lithuanian case law and answered the community’s questions about management of research data, ethical review, and allegations of academic ethics.
