Academic dishonesty can be costly

There have been cases where students contacted individuals offering academic paper writing or consulting services, and later refused the services or failed to pay for them. In response, the same individuals reported the students to higher education institutions for allegedly using such services.

We remind you that the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures, in accordance with Article 589, Part 1, Point 80 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – the Code), conducts investigations and draws up protocols regarding:

  • presenting a paper written by another person as one’s own;

  • preparing a paper and/or transferring it to another person to submit as their own;

  • publicly offering or advertising such paper writing services.

Please note that violations of the aforementioned Code provisions are subject to fines ranging from 200 to 1,800 euros, and for repeated offenses – from 500 to 3,000 euros.

We also warn that, under Article 123 of the Code, a person may be held liable not only for offering academic paper writing services but also for purchasing them.

Be responsible – academic integrity matters not only during your studies but throughout your professional career!
