Challenges of Academic Ethics Discussed at an Online Meeting with Committee Members

On April 11, an online meeting took place between the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania and members of committees and commissions responsible for academic ethics and research ethics compliance.

During the meeting, the main challenges were discussed, including the application of artificial intelligence in science, the scope of committee competencies, publication ethics, complaint management, and the need for practical training. The “Responsible Research Barometer 2024” was also presented.

We are pleased with the active participation – 77 participants joined the meeting, but as some institutions connected using a single account, we managed to reach over 100 members from key academic and research institutions.

We thank all participants for their engagement and consensus on the need to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation. The next meeting is scheduled for November – let us continue the dialogue together.
