Together with Europe: Making the Language of Science Understandable to Everyone

On June 17, the Senior Public Relations Specialist of the Office of the Ombudsperson for Academic Ethics and Procedures of the Republic of Lithuania, Gabrielė Dambrauskaitė, together with Aušra Gribauskienė, representative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, participated in an international COALESCE project meeting focused on strengthening science communication.

The meeting addressed how to ensure that science is communicated clearly and responsibly to the public, especially when facing today’s challenges – the reliability of information, public trust in science, the rise of artificial intelligence, and citizen involvement in research processes.

Gabrielė Dambrauskaitė and Aušra Gribauskienė worked in the same group alongside representatives from Estonia, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. Participants openly shared their experiences, good practices, and challenges faced in their countries regarding science communication.

The COALESCE project, funded by the European Union, aims to establish a joint European center dedicated to improving science communication, promoting collaboration between countries, and helping implement clear, effective, and ethical communication solutions.

The participation of Gabrielė and Aušra in this project contributes to Lithuania’s active involvement in the European dialogue on how to build trust in science and ensure that the public receives clear, reliable, and understandable information.
