The Office strengthens the academic community: training on the use of AI in research

Training titled “Artificial Intelligence in Research: Responsible Use and Academic Ethics” took place at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, delivered by Senior Analyst of the Office, Lijana Radzevičienė.

During the training, participants were introduced to the activities of the Office, the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and its emerging challenges, the use of AI in research in the context of academic ethics, recommended AI use guidelines, and 10 key rules for researchers using AI.

The discussion that followed focused on the use of AI in student work: whether it should be disclosed, how to do so, and whether it is possible to reliably detect its use. In short – there are currently no reliable methods.

The discussion revealed a clear need for practical and well-defined principles for AI use in academia, especially in the assessment of student work.
